We are thrilled to announce that WCIJ has been awarded Provisional School status by the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). This recognition marks a significant milestone in our commitment to delivering high-quality British international education.
What Does Provisional Status Mean?
Provisional status is granted to schools that demonstrate excellence across five key areas:

Melissa Meyers, Founding Head of School at Wellington College Independent School Jakarta (WCIJ), attended the WCE Forum for the first time, representing the new school and contributing to strategic discussions.
Attendees contributed to shaping the following year’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the evolving needs of schools at different stages of development. The agenda was carefully designed to address unique challenges while maximizing networking opportunities, both formal and informal.

A highlight of the event was the AISH (Academy of International School Heads) OASIS Day, a hands-on session led by AI expert Rita Bateson, author of The International School Leaders’ Guide to AI. Participants explored six key risks, seven emerging trends, and the 6Ps framework (Preparation, Policies, People, Processes, Protection, Pedagogy) to navigate AI in education effectively. A case study from the Western Academy of Beijing showcased one of the most ambitious whole-school AI initiatives, offering practical insights.
Benefits for Our Parents and School Community as a COBIS Provisional School:
This achievement reflects our dedication to excellence, and we look forward to the next step: full COBIS Accreditation and Compliance. Thank you to our staff and founding families for being part of this journey!
