The 9th edition of EdFest Shanghai, one of China’s most dynamic education events, took place in April 2026. This Festival of Education was a vibrant, one-day gathering that united learners, educators, and thought leaders to exchange innovative ideas and research-informed strategies.
Melissa Meyers, Founding Head of WCIJ, attended the event and thoroughly enjoyed engaging in dynamic conversations about the latest educational research and trends. Unlike traditional conferences, EdFest thrived on lively debates, inspiring speakers, and interactive networking, all rooted in the belief that learning should be exciting, engaging, and enjoyable.

The festival fostered truth-seeking and open dialogue, encouraging diverse perspectives in a spirit of intellectual curiosity and mutual respect. Attendees enjoyed street-food catering, open entertainment, and relaxed seating, creating a festive atmosphere that enhanced connection and collaboration. As a fully bilingual event, sessions were delivered in English and Mandarin, ensuring accessibility and enriching cross-cultural discussions. Keynote speakers included Owen O’Kane, a renowned expert on wellbeing and resilience, and Chloe Combi, a bestselling author who shared groundbreaking insights on Gen Z and Gen A trends, with a special focus on China.

EdFest Shanghai was more than an event, it was a celebration of education’s transformative power, inspiring educators to reimagine teaching and learning for the future.
