Wellington College Independent School Jakarta (WCIJ) was honoured to welcome Naz Shah - UK Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Indonesia and ASEAN, as part of a visit highlighting the growing strength of UK-Indonesia collaboration in education.

The visit provided a meaningful opportunity to demonstrate the UK Government's continued support for British education in Indonesia, and to recognise the important role that British schools play in developing future-ready learners, global perspectives and long-term educational partnerships.

Joining the visit were Summer Xia - Country Director Indonesia and Director Southeast Asia, British Council, and Keziah McConnell - Deputy Country Director-Trade, British Embassy Jakarta. Together, the delegation engaged with WCIJ representatives to discuss the quality, reputation and distinctiveness of British education, as well as its contribution to nurturing future talent in Indonesia.

As a proud member of the Wellington family of schools, WCIJ is committed to delivering an education that combines academic ambition with character, wellbeing, global citizenship and service. The meeting reflected a shared commitment to strengthening collaboration between UK and Indonesian education stakeholders through sustained partnerships, knowledge exchange and meaningful social impact.

To mark the occasion, the visit also included a tree-planting activity, symbolising growth, connection and the long-term relationship between the UK and Indonesia. This gesture reflected WCIJ's commitment not only to educational excellence, but also to sustainability, community and the future of the young people it serves.
