Curriculum and Assessment in Primary
Children in the Primary School follow the English National Curriculum for core and foundation subjects, including English, Maths, Science, Computing, and Humanities, with Mandarin offered as an additional subject. We also provide a bespoke curriculum that encompasses STEM, Service and Sustainability, Wellbeing, and Indonesian Studies.
Through this diverse curriculum, our children develop a range of metacognitive learning skills that align with pre-IB learning standards and support their progression toward the IB learner profile.
Our curriculum includes lessons from highly qualified and experienced specialist teachers for Music, Sports, Mandarin, Bahasa, and Enrichment, ensuring a well-rounded and holistic education.
In the Primary School, our topic-based approach to learning allows children to contextualise their knowledge and understanding. This approach is further enhanced by learning challenges, inquiry and projects, field trips, and collaborative partnerships, all brought to life by visiting experts. Together, these experiences create a dynamic and engaging learning journey for our students.
Assessment and Reporting
For children in the Primary School, assessments may take the form of tasks, tests, or observations of their learning. Each year group has a defined set of age-related learning expectations that children are expected to meet by the end of the academic year. Our comprehensive cycle of assessment, carried out each half term, allow us to determine their progress against these expectations, and help teachers to plan their coverage appropriately.
